EDITORIAL #020 :
The seventh annual meeting of the CyberWhoreMonger's Club, CWMCM#7, will be held during July 2003. Click here to read more about it if you don't know what it is. I personally invite you, whoever you are, to attend. You are most certainly welcome!
However, please understand that I can only speak for myself. I am just a guy with a web page and I do not myself authorize or sponsor any events - I merely publicize them, all of them, so that people will know about them and can make up their own minds which ones, if any, they wish to attend.
There are two kinds of functions at the CWMC meetings - public and private. I can only invite you to the public events. Since my CWMCM#7 page is meant to be informative of all of the CWMCM#7 events, it necessarily must include both the public events and the private events.
It is absolutely clear which events are private and which are public. The totally consistent rule is this : If the location is made public, then the event is public. However, if the location is not made public, then the event is private. This is so simple and direct that it amazes me that so many people don't understand it.
So when I invite people to attend CWMCM#7, I am only inviting them to the public functions, those whose location has been made public. That does not mean that you are not welcome to attend the private functions, it merely means that I can not invite you to attend those private functions. Please feel free to contact the sponsors of the private functions to see if you can attend them; the probability is that you can in fact attend the private function, but you will only know if you ask. And it is only then, once the sponsor has told you that you are invited, that you will learn the location of the private event. Is this clear? Do you understand that I only speak for myself, and not for those who are hosting private functions? And do you understand that you are always welcome to the public functions, no matter what the status is of the private functions?
The sponsors of the private event have many concerns, not the least of which is that they need an advance head count of how many people will be attending so that they can accomodate the crowd. If you can't understand this, then I doubt that I can will ever be able to make you understand. Nevertheless, the sponsors of the private events are assuming all of the risks, so they get to make whatever decisions they care to about their private event. I don't always agree with their decisions, but then I'm not the person sponsoring the private events.
As for the public events, just show up unannounced if that is your inclination. And I look forward to meeting you!
Be seeing you.
