EDITORIAL #021 :

Friday night I blew my rod.

Actually, one of the rods in the engine of my 1996 Ford Escort went out. It must have been close to going out when I drove my friend Doc to an Italian restaurant to meet with Curious. It didn't actually fail until Doc and I returned to his place and I decided to leave and tried to start the engine. "What is that loud noise?"

So, as of this writing, I'm staying with my friend Curious (no change of plan there) and will drive home tomorrow (Monday) in my rental car, and will try to get two quotes Tuesday morning for a new engine. Yesterday the shop quoted me $1200 to $1400 to repair the present engine (just the top part of the engine was damaged), but I'd like to know how much more it is for a completely new engine.

Everyone keeps asking me why I don't just buy a new vehicle, but that just makes too much sense. Live life on the edge with an old clunker!
